What is Human Psychosocial AI?
Human Psychosocial AI is an emerging field of artificial intelligence that supports people through complex psychosocial experience — appearance, identity, dignity, self-worth, belonging, life transition — rather than around a technique, an industry, a demographic, or a diagnosis.
Where Human-Centered AI (HAI) asks how any AI system should be designed with human wellbeing in mind, Human Psychosocial AI asks a narrower and more concrete question: what does AI need to become when it is built for one particular kind of psychosocial reality, the isolation of living with a visible skin condition, or the disorientation of a life that never followed society's expected script?
It is not a single product, and not a design checklist applied after the fact. It is a family of domain-specific AI disciplines, each built on the same underlying engineering approach; 'Human-Centered Relational AI', but shaped by the actual texture of a distinct lived experience, not by a universal principle applied uniformly across all of them.
Two domains currently exist within it:
Appearance Psychosocial AI, expressed through Appear+ and rooted in Sub-Saharan African lived experience as part of TAP; and
Unscripted Life Psychosocial AI, expressed through MyBetween, for adults whose lives unfolded outside the expected timeline. It is also rooted in Sub-Saharan African lived experience
Further domains are expected to emerge, each proven through a real product before it earns a name, not invented in advance.
