A quiet place for people whose lives unfolded differently than expected. .
There comes a point when you stop asking how to fit into the life you were expected to live, and begin asking how to live the life that is truly yours.
Some lives don’t follow the script. They deserve thoughtful companionship too.
You may feel at home here if:
Your life does not match the script society handed you, whether you are 45 or older, have never married, are childless, divorced, widowed, or navigating life and single parenthood alone.
You are tired of being measured against a timeline you never agreed to, especially when choosing honest authenticity over settling has caused others to quietly label you a failure.
Your inner peace seems to rattle the people around you, even those who call themselves your closest circle or family.
You are carrying quiet grief — for a person, a marriage, a missed path, an opportunity, a business or a version of yourself you had to let go of.
You are rebuilding after major loss, at an age when many of your peers are retiring and starting over is rarely spoken about honestly.
Solitude is your actual daily reality, not a temporary posting, transition, or distance phase.
Your body is shifting, delaying, or changing in ways no one prepared you for, and when you tried to speak on it, you were told you lack faith or should just be grateful it isn't worse, so you learned to carry it in silence.
You are carrying other things you've never been able to say to another human, because the one time you tried, in confidence, you were judged, disgraced, or mocked for it.
You carry the twin scrutiny of how you look and how you live, navigating ageing, appearance differences and societal judgment at the same time.
You want genuine, continuous companionship, without being told to fix yourself, find a partner, or defend your reality.
Clarity is kindness.
You are in a committed relationship or marriage and navigating life together
You are under 40 and in an earlier season of life’s decisions
You are looking for matchmaking, dating advice, or relationship coaching
You want to be told how to fix yourself or meet someone else’s timeline
If that list describes you, there is nothing wrong with where you are. MyBetween simply was not designed for your season. This space was built for someone else — and those people deserve a space that is unambiguously theirs.
You do not have to explain your life here before you can speak.
Not therapy. Not coaching. Not another platform telling you how to live.
MyBetween is an AI companion built within Unscripted Life Psychosocial AI — one of two domains of the emerging field of Human Psychosocial AI. Designed using a Human-Centered Relational AI approach, it supports adults whose lives have unfolded differently than expected as they navigate identity, belonging, purpose, and peace on their own terms.
A quiet presence at any hour
A space to ask the questions you carry alone
Honest conversation without judgment
A companion that does not require you to explain your life before it listens
Not therapy or clinical support
Not a dating or relationship platform
Not a community forum or group chat
Not a space that will redirect you toward finding a partner
For much of my adult life, I have watched society struggle with one simple idea:
That a person can live outside its expected timeline, and still be deeply, genuinely at peace.
A few years ago, my life unravelled. From the outside, it did not always look that way. But internally, I had lost almost everything that once gave me a sense of direction, identity, and momentum. I had built meaningful work. I had led organisations. I had travelled the world. Then came a season when I struggled simply to find myself again.
I rebuilt. Again and again. And again. Sometimes I thought I was back, only to find myself returning to the same place of exhaustion and self-doubt. Looking back now, I understand that I was not failing. I was grieving. Rebuilding. Learning, slowly, what it means to become whole again, when the world has no language for the season you are in.
Today I can honestly say I am at peace. Not because every question has been answered. Not because life suddenly became easy. But because I no longer measure my life by the script I inherited. I measure it by the truth I now choose to live.
I am not building MyBetween because I have reached the destination.
I am building it because I am still becoming.
I have never been married. I do not have children. I am in my early fifties. I live with vitiligo, a visible difference that has shaped how the world sees me, and how I have had to learn to see myself.
For many years, I carried the quiet weight of a society that measures a woman’s worth by milestones she may not have reached. I know what it feels like to be prayed for without being asked if you want rescuing. To have your happiness questioned by the very people who perfomed love all along. To be told, in words or in silence, that your peace cannot possibly be real.
I remember a conversation with people I once considered family. They sat with me, visibly distressed, not about anything I had done, but about the fact that I was not distressed. I was in my early forties, unmarried, and unbothered. That unbothered-ness disturbed them deeply.
In what we call culture today, it is easy to read a moment like that and say: they were just looking out for you. They cared.
But here is what I came to understand: the same people were perfectly calm when things were hard for me. It was not my well-being that concerned them. It was my peace. They used the marriage question as a weapon rather than a concern. When I was struggling, the worry was quiet. When I was thriving and unbothered, the concern was suddenly loud.
That is the manipulation dressed as care. And it is destroying lives today, quietly, systematically, in families and communities across Africa and beyond. It uses the language of prayer, of concern, of tradition. But what it is actually doing is making you feel that your peace is a problem. That your wholeness, outside of their expected script for your life, is something to be corrected.
The difference between care and control is simple, even when it is hard to see: someone who truly wants what is best for you is happiest when you are at peace. Someone who needs you to conform is most unsettled by your wholeness.
You are not wrong for what you noticed. And you are not ungrateful for refusing to let someone else’s discomfort with your peace become your own.
MyBetween is not against marriage. It is not against relationships. It is not a movement for people who have given up, or who are bitter, or who want to talk others out of wanting what they want.
Some people who come here will still desire marriage. Some will find it. Some will not. Some will have found it and lost it. Some never wanted it at all.
MyBetween is simply for those who refuse to believe that their life cannot be fully, meaningfully lived until society approves of it.
Your life does not begin the day society gives you permission to live it.
And one more thing worth saying plainly:
MyBetween is for anyone navigating the quiet erosion of self that happens when the world, or the people closest to you, will not stop telling you who you are supposed to be.
That experience does not belong only to people who are single. It belongs to anyone who has felt themselves slowly disappear under the weight of someone else’s script for their life. MyBetween holds space for that, quietly, without judgment, and without requiring you to explain how you got here before you are allowed to speak.
1. You are not behind.
There is no universal timeline for a meaningful life. The idea that there is, and that you have somehow missed it, is a narattive society manufactures, not a truth you are obligated to carry.
2. An unscripted life is not a failed life.
Never having married, being divorced, navigating single parenthood, or being widowed are not deficits to be corrected. They are circumstances that shape a human story, and a life shaped differently is not a lesser life.
3. Your body is not a project to be fixed.
Whether you live with an appearance difference, a visible difference — skin conditions, alopecia, scarring, or your body has begun shifting, delaying, or failing in ways no one prepared you for, the weight and scrutiny you carry are real, even when you were told to have more faith instead of being heard. You are not an edge case or an afterthought here. You are the reason this space exists.
4. Peace is not a reward for compliance.
A life of dignity is not measured by how well you followed the expected script. It is measured by the courage and honesty with which you live your own truth.
5. You don’t have to perform here.
You do not need to defend your choices, minimize your grief, or pretend to be settled. You do not have to become someone else to belong. You simply have to arrive.
